Rebar weight
Round bar at 7,850 kg/m³.
Method
Worked case: 16 mm is 1.578 kg/m, so 12 m is 18.94 kg.
What to write beside the result
A review can only check this figure if the inputs sit next to it. Write the value, the unit and the assumption the form used. A diameter in millimetres and a diameter in metres are not the same reading. A force in kilonewtons divided as if it were newtons is a thousand-fold error.
The result is the arithmetic on this page. It is not a utilisation, not a selected product, and not a clause from a standard. If the number is going into a shared container, name the page, the date and the inputs. The file-name checker does not read the calculation.
Logic: how this figure is built.
How to read a rebar weight
Mass per metre is the bar area times the steel density. A 16 mm bar is about 1.578 kg/m, so 12 m is about 18.94 kg. The page uses 7,850 kg/m³. A different density moves the mass in proportion.
The length is the cut length you want weighed, including hooks if they are part of that bar. A centre-line length and a cut length differ at a bend. The page does not add a bend allowance.
Diameter is the nominal bar diameter. A bundle of three 16 mm bars is three times the mass. The page is one diameter and one length.
Use it to check a bar schedule line. It is not a reinforcement rate per cubic metre and not a lap schedule.
