Editorial policy
This page sets out how The Eng Hub writes, checks and corrects its pages. It expands on About and Methodology and does not replace them.
Who writes and checks
Pages are written and checked by The Eng Hub. Every calculator and guide is checked against its stated formula and sources before it is published, and again when it changes. The site does not publish guest posts, sponsored content or generated pages that have not been checked.
Sources
We work from primary sources: the standards and their publishers (BSI, ISO, the IET, CIRIA), UK government guidance such as the Approved Documents, the UK BIM Framework, and textbook relationships that can be derived on the page. Editions are checked against the publisher’s catalogue and listed on standards these tools do not replace. We do not reproduce standards text. Where we could not confirm a figure from a source we actually read, the page says so rather than guessing.
How figures are checked
Each calculator states its equation, its assumptions and worked examples. Every worked figure is recalculated from the stated inputs, with units checked end to end. The first worked example of each calculator is listed with its expected output on the methodology page, and the tools are tested with blank, zero, negative and very large inputs so that they give a clear message rather than a meaningless number.
Review dates
Each page shows one “last checked” date. It moves only when the page has actually been re-read and its figures and references checked. Pages that cite a standard are reviewed when a new edition or amendment is published, and every page is reviewed at least once a year.
Corrections
If you find an error, email hello@theenghub.co.uk with the page, the inputs and what you expected; the contact page shows a good example. Confirmed errors are corrected on the page, the methodology test cases are updated where they are affected, and the checked date moves. Significant corrections, such as a wrong citation, are noted on the page concerned.
Independence
The Eng Hub carries no advertising and no affiliate links. No company pays to be mentioned. Products and software are named only where a standard or a method requires it.
